On Saturday Julie, Nancy, and I went to the Denver Art Museum. On the first Saturday of the month it is free. We saw a wonderful textile exhibit called Spun featuring loads of usual and unusual types of textiles from all over the world, new and ancient. The first picture shows a small part of the the very modern art museum building and the second picture shows one of many segments of an exhibit of crochet coral reefs that are sprinkled throughout the museum over four floors. After the museum we had a wonderful tapas dinner at the 9th Door, first time for Julie. We dined on 8 or 9 small dishes of Spanish delights and stopped for frozen yogurt on the way home.
On Sunday we drove to Boulder where we first went to the fascinating National Center for atmospheric Research (NCAR). The next photo shows the mountains above the museum, Nancy playing with a cloud, and than a tornado.
Next we toured the Celestial Seasonings plant where they create 72 varieties of tea using ingredients from all over the world. the fragrance inside the peppermint storeroom was intoxicating! We ended the day back in Denver at one of Julie’s favorite restaurants, Star of India.
It was great spending a couple of days with Julie and seeing Ben and Stacy and the kids who are so bright and cute.
