Feb 23rd Samoa, Feb 24th, at Sea

Yesterday we visited America Samoa.    We finished the day in one of the ships specialty restaurants, looking over the stern as we set sail.

View of America Samoa from our table at the specialty restaurant as we sailed away.

We went to sleep on Tuesday September 21st and woke up Thursday September 23rd, as we crossed the international date line during the night.   We arrived at Samoa, where are ship was met by local dancers.

In Samoa we took a ship sponsored tour of the island which included a stop on the coast, in a little village, at a waterfall, and finally at Gina's Garden, a lovely botanical garden planted with beautiful flowers.  While there we had had fresh fruit and coconut milk which we drank through a straw inserted into a chilled coconut, very good. The Samoans demonstrated climbing a tree to cut down and prepare coconuts and weave baskets from coconut fronds.

To, Friday the 24th, we had a quiet sea day with another lecture about Hollywood scandals in honor of the Oscars,   bingo, and reading our books.  Tomorrow- FIJI!
