February 3rd–Aruba

Welcome to the start of our Caribbean Cruise blog!!!!  We are launching this update from Aruba.

We are on this cruise with my sister Dorothy, her husband Robert, their son Bob and daughter-in-law Kim.   Dorothy and Robert didn’t know we were on the cruise, it was a surprise arranged by their kids, with the plan that we would show up at their dinner table the first night.

We flew into Ft. Lauderdale and spent an hour and a half killing time until we received an all clear from Bob that we would not run into their parents checking in.  A quick taxi to the cruise, we jumped on board, and went to our room.   It is a nice room, we are on the Lido Deck (deck 14), with a balcony.  We tried to keep a low profile during the afternoon so we would not run into Dorothy and Robert.  The one challenge was that we had the same muster station for the life boat drill.  We almost ran into them, but we were able to go into another section and they did not see us, but we saw them!!!

We went down to dinner five minutes after the start of dinner, with the plan to join them, but they had not arrived yet.    Kim indicated they were having trouble with the elevator so we went around a corner and hid for a few minutes, with the other diners wondering who are these strange people?   Dorothy and Robert arrived and we went over to the table and asked “”are these chairs taken” and Dorothy was thrilled!!!!! It is Dorothy and Robert’s 20th Princess Cruise, Bob and Kim’s 22nd. and our 2nd….  After dinner we wandered around the ship, learning the layout, as we set sail for two days at sea and our first port, Aruba.

We had two relaxing days at sea, playing some trivia games and BINGO, watching the hilarious comedian Al Katz and the show “Stardust” featuring songs of the past and we boogied at a 50’s sock hop.

Nancy has had problems with shoulder pain for a couple of years, so we decided to see if acupuncture would help.

This morning we docked at Aruba.  Nancy had her hair styled before we went ashore, and this afternoon we will be going on a schooner to go snorkeling, including snorkeling at the wreck Attila.

We have been enjoying the cruise and will keep you posted!!!

So glad you were able to surprise Dorothy. If my memory serves me, didn't Holly and Rod go to Aruba at one time? I hear it is a wonderful spot. Hope the acupuncture works wonders for Nancy. Enjoy the snorkeling. Looking forward to your future posts!
Love you guys
Julie

Nancy...you got your hair styled BEFORE you went snorkeling? You'll have to explain that one!
